Online Advertising: What Works?
What works in online advertising and marketing will result in very mixed responses from some experts.
The real question to be posed at this point is where should I invest my money in online advertising?
When deciding where to invest money in online advertising, one should also decide how much should be invested.
If you don't set a budget or goal for what you are looking to accomplish, it will be an endless battle.
When experts tell you that how well you will be viewed on search engine rankings depends on how much money you invest, they are in fact partially correct.
For example, utilizing a tool such as Google Adwords will present your keywords and advertisements as much as you are willing to invest.
Two companies advertising the same information, with one company setting a monthly maximum of $200.00 for adwords investment and the other setting a maximum of $400.00 will definitely see different results.
Regardless of both companies setting the same advertisement schemes, keywords, tags, etc... The larger investment will appear the most times in a given monthly search. Once you reach your maximum for the month, the higher investor will take advantage of their investment at that point.
Now, this does not mean to spend as much as possible in a monthly advertisement scheme, because if you utilize less searched keywords or phrases, you are simply throwing money away.
The real answer here is utilize additional tools such as Google Analytics and Top Keyword Searches to maximize your investment in those keywords and tags that are most search and will bring the most results and visitors to your site.
Content, Content, and more Content.
As mentioned in the SEO Content section, well written content is extrmely strong in getting your website ranked and having potential click-throughs into your site.
Making an investment in an advertising or SEO organization that is able to write relevant and searched content will definetely prove results.
It is vitally important, however, to be sure that the content is being written properly and that keywords and phrases are repeated within the content for greater search results.
Blogging!
To blog or not to blog, that is the question. Absolutely!
If you don't have the time to write in blogs, hire a ghost-blogger or an SEO company to write your blogs for you.
Not only is it content for your website that is searchable via the internet, it is a great way to get a following and regular repeat web visitors.
Utilize blogs that are provided by the well known companies, such as Google or Blogger... You will find yourself in the search engines quicker than starting your own unknown blog.
Now, this is not to say that having your own fresh wordpress blog on your website is not searchable. What we are saying here is that if the larger organizations are already searchable and their blogs are implemented into search engine browsers, why not use them and get free publicity?
Twitter?
According to their website, "Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?"
Some may think of Twitter as another medium for kids to post and exchange meaningless messages and random comments with their friends. While at first glance, the tool may seem like just another Myspace or Facebook knockoff, Twitter can actually be used as an effective marketing weapon.
If used effectively, Twitter can be a great way to keep your existing and potential clients abreast of your company's breaking news.
Below are just a few ways that you can use Twitter as a free marketing and broadcasting tool:
- Real Estate - Post new properties or showing scheduled the moment they become available
- Retail / Online Store - Inform readers of new promotions or product lines
- Public Speakers - Post your upcoming round table or speaking events
- Recruiters - Post new job openings or opportunities
Smart companies use Twitter, why don't you?
